Centro Médico Otorrino asegura que no hubo daños estructurales ni a pacientes tras incendio

A fire broke out on Sunday morning at the Otorrinolaringología y Especialidades Medical Center in Santo Domingo. The blaze was confined to a central air‑conditioning unit on the roof and did not damage the building’s floors or adjacent structures. No patients were harmed. The incident occurred at approximately 11:46 a.m. and prompted the deployment of eight fire‑trucks from the Distrito Nacional Fire Department. Medical staff on the third floor were temporarily removed as a precaution, but the department’s chief, José Luis Frómeta Herasme, stated that evacuation of patients was unnecessary. The medical center confirmed that its facilities remain safe and that services continue normally. It thanked the National Emergency and Security System (9‑1‑1), the Eastern Electricity Distribution Company (Edeeste), and its own staff for their swift response. Authorities will conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
