Cedar Grove and Bishop Anstey East Triumph at SPARK 2026 National Dance Festival

Cedar Grove Private Primary School and Bishop Anstey High School East took top honours at SPARK 2026, this year’s Schools Festival of Dance. Hosted by the National Dance Association of Trinidad and Tobago (NDA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the festival saw a strong turnout of schools from across the nation, showcasing their talent in various dance disciplines.

This year’s SPARK festival underscored its growing national appeal, with participants hailing from all corners of Trinidad and Tobago. Audiences were treated to performances exploring a wide range of themes from national identity and cultural pride to resilience and spirituality.

The NDA took a significant digital leap, introducing SCORZ, a new adjudication platform developed by PHNYXPRO. This platform aims to streamline scoring and reporting during the competition, enabling smoother operations.

NDA President Alette Liz Williams emphasized the organization’s commitment to not only continue the festival but also to create more opportunities for students. These include scholarships, mentorship, and exposure within the creative industry, underlining that the value of the festival extends beyond the mere winning of trophies.

As part of its 45th anniversary celebrations, the NDA is set to conclude the festivities with the National Dance Gala on September 6, 2026. Performers from SPARK 2026 are expected to partake, marking this milestone in the association’s history.
