The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is marking 175 years as one of Trinidad and Tobago’s most historic religious landmarks. Built from Laventille blue limestone and completed in 1851, the cathedral has long stood as a spiritual and cultural anchor in Port of Spain. Church officials say despite past debates over relocation due to traffic, crime, and urban change, the cathedral remains committed to serving the community from its original home in East Port of Spain.
