Patrons are expressing discontent over what they see as a system that increasingly favors insiders, inflates prices, and moves away from the collective ethos that Carnival has long embraced. The main criticism revolves around ticket acquisition, which is perceived to be exclusive and depersonalized. Furthermore, financial concerns are raised due to the high commission on tickets bought through WOW’s website. A broader critique is also presented, questioning the cultural implications of creating an event that seems to favor status and exclusivity over inclusivity and shared experiences. As Carnival draws near each year, questions regarding accessibility, affordability, and maintaining the spirit of community persist.
