Caribbean PM Backs Trump’s Anti-Drug Campaign

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar of Trinidad and Tobago has been recognized for supporting Donald Trump’s efforts to tackle the international drug trade. This endorsement was highlighted in an article by The National Interest, an acclaimed online publication that specializes in defense, national security, foreign policy, and US politics. The piece, titled ‘How Trinidad and Tobago Took the Lead in Caribbean Security’, was published on February 18, 2026. It portrayed Trinidad and Tobago as a model for US counter-narcotics cooperation in the Caribbean. In the aftermath of Operation Absolute Resolve, Persad-Bissessar confirmed her support for Trump, stating she made no apologies for standing alongside the leader of the free world in this hemisphere.
