Caribbean Airlines (CAL), the region’s largest airline, is preparing for significant operational changes in 2026. CAL has announced the discontinuation of two routes and the closure of its Barbados base. Starting January 10, flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Tortola in the British Virgin Islands will be discontinued. Additionally, CAL’s operations hub at Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados is set to officially close in February 2026. Following the closure, flights departing from Barbados will be retimed and operated from Piarco International Airport in Trinidad. Consequently, all crew members based in Barbados will be mandated to report for duty in Port of Spain, CAL’s main hub.
