**Cameroon Seeks to Deepen Diplomatic Ties with Ethiopia**

**ADDIS ABABA** – Cameroon’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Churchill Ewumbue-Monono, has expressed his country’s commitment to expanding and strengthening the diplomatic relationship between the two nations, which has spanned more than 60 years.

Speaking to the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA), Ambassador Ewumbue-Monono emphasized that while the historical cooperation between the two countries has been positive, the focus must now shift toward future collaboration.

“Even if the diplomatic relations between the two countries have been very positive in the past 60 years, the most important thing is the future,” the Ambassador stated. He noted that the two nations have a long history of working together within international organizations.

The Ambassador’s remarks were made on the sidelines of a commemorative event honoring the late Ethiopian diplomat Konjit Sinegiorgis, who served as the chair of the group of African ambassadors to the Organization of African Unity (OAU) in 1995.

Ambassador Ewumbue-Monono highlighted the historical synergy between the two countries, noting that following Ethiopia’s leadership of the OAU in 1995, Cameroon assumed the chair the following year. This transition facilitated significant cooperation between the respective diplomatic missions at the time.

Looking ahead, the Ambassador outlined several key areas for continued engagement, including the strengthening of people-to-people ties, sports, and business relations. He noted that there have already been several reciprocal business missions between Ethiopia and Cameroon, and he expressed a desire to see these economic and social connections grow in the coming years.
