Businesswoman Assaulted, Robbed at Vegetable Stall in Trinidad; Suspect Identified as ‘Reds’ Son

A violent incident unfolded in St. Mary’s Village, Trinidad on Wednesday afternoon as a 48-year-old businesswoman was assaulted and robbed at her vegetable stall. The victim, who runs the R&S Minimart, was conducting sales around 1:10 p.m. on April 8, 2026, along Oropouche Road when a man armed with a piece of wood entered the stall and announced a robbery.

During the confrontation, the suspect repeatedly struck the woman. However, the entrepreneur managed to remove the man’s bandana during the struggle and recognized him as the son of an individual known as ‘Reds’.

The assailant made off with a gold ‘OM’ pendant and approximately TT$800 in cash from the sales counter before making his escape on foot. He was last seen heading in a southwesterly direction along a private road behind the minimart.

Following the incident, officers PC Noel and WPC Perelion-Rowans arrived at the scene to gather information and canvass for witnesses and CCTV footage. The victim was subsequently advised to seek medical attention. As of now, the police investigations are ongoing, with efforts underway to locate and apprehend the suspect.
