Burnham insists UK will ‘stand firm’ over threats to Falkland Islands

Andy Burnham, a senior UK political figure, stated that the United Kingdom will “stand firm” in the face of any threats to the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands.

Burnham made the comment following remarks by Argentine President Javier Milei, who has intensified tensions over the South Atlantic archipelago.

He said he had raised the issue with U.S. President Donald Trump, indicating that the UK is seeking international support to uphold its claim to the islands.

These remarks were reported by David Hughes, Press Association Political Editor in New York.
