Burkina Faso Women Target Historic Knockout Stage at 2026 AFCON

Burkina Faso’s women’s national team, the Stallions Ladies, are setting their sights on history at the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2026 in Morocco. After missing the 2024 edition, the team returns with renewed confidence, determined to advance beyond the group stage for the first time.

The Stallions Ladies secured their place in Morocco with an impressive qualifying campaign, defeating Burundi 5-1 on aggregate and Togo 3-0 on aggregate. The convincing performances have boosted morale as the team prepares for the continental showdown.

Head coach Pascal Sawadogo, a central figure in the development of women’s football in Burkina Faso, has built a squad through youth development and long-term planning. His approach has established a clear playing identity and created opportunities for emerging players.

Forward Adama Congo, who made history at the 2022 edition by becoming the first Burkina Faso player to score at the tournament, will be a key player to watch. Her pace and intelligent movement are expected to be crucial in Morocco.
