Highly acclaimed Soca artiste, Ian ‘Bunji Garlin’ Alvarez, has taken the Soca community by surprise, announcing he will be entering the Road March race this year. This comes after previously stating he had no intentions of competing, following a contentious incident involving a Road March judge last year. The controversy stirred when the judge seemingly favoured Machel Montano ahead of the competition’s conclusion, during the Carnival. In a surprising turn of events, Garlin shared a receipt on his Instagram that confirms his paid participation in this year’s competition.
