A 25-year-old software technician from Cumuto was attacked early Saturday morning after being lured to a remote area by someone posing as a woman named “Tricia” on a dating app. The technician arranged to meet her on the night of July 25, arriving at San Louis Road, Guaico, Sangre Grande around 1:00 AM. Instead of meeting a date, he was ambushed by two men who beat him, stabbed him, and robbed him of his possessions, including a Samsung cellphone, $1,100 in cash, and his vehicle. Fortunately, the victim managed to flag down a passing police patrol and reported the incident. He is currently receiving medical treatment for his injuries. Authorities are urging the public to remain cautious when meeting individuals from online platforms, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact local police or Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS.
