Brave TTR Soldiers Rescue Five Civilians from Dangerous Waters at Blanchisseuse Beach

Two soldiers from the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment (TTR) demonstrated commendable bravery and quick thinking when they rescued five civilians at Blanchisseuse Beach on Saturday, August 22, 2026. The incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. during a routine patrol by the First Infantry Battalion (1TTR) near the Blanchisseuse Community Centre.

The patrol turned into a rescue operation when two children and an adult male were spotted struggling in the waters. A Sergeant on the scene quickly retrieved a life ring from a nearby resort and coordinated from the shore, while a Lance Corporal, who also serves as a patrol medic, entered the water to assist the distressed individuals.

The soldiers successfully delivered the life ring to the civilians, enabling a safe return to shore. During the operation, another male and female who attempted to help also found themselves in trouble. The soldiers promptly responded, ensuring all five civilians were brought back safely.

Upon reaching shore, the Lance Corporal medic assessed the civilians, confirming they were in good health with no immediate medical concerns. The Trinidad and Tobago Regiment praised the soldiers for their vigilance and decisive action.

This incident serves as a reminder for the public to be cautious when entering the sea and to remain aware of water conditions. The Regiment advises seeking professional assistance rather than risking additional lives in emergencies. This proactive approach can help prevent similar situations in the future.
