A fire broke out at the Ornamibo landfill in Paramaribo on Monday afternoon, producing large amounts of smoke. According to District Commissioner Ernesto Muller of Wanica-Zuidoost, the situation is now under control.
Commissioner Muller stated that after receiving the report around 2:30 pm, the fire department and police were immediately called in to respond to the incident. The cause of the fire is suspected to be arson, although this has not been officially confirmed.
