Bostonian Towing has terminated the employment of a driver following the circulation of dashcam footage that captured him directing an anti-Asian slur at a woman in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The incident occurred on October 24 at the intersection of Norfolk Street and Bishop Allen Drive. Video recorded by the woman shows two tow trucks passing through the intersection, at which point one of the drivers leans out of his open window and shouts a racist remark at her. Following the publication of the footage online, Bostonian Towing issued a formal apology and announced that the employee had been dismissed, effective immediately. In a statement, the company condemned the driver’s language, stating that racism, discrimination, and hate have no place in its workplace. The company further extended its apologies to the woman involved and the broader Asian community. The woman, who has requested to remain anonymous, told Boston.com that she questioned whether the company would have taken disciplinary action had the incident not been documented and shared publicly.
