The Road Division Office in Birgunj is nearing the completion of a major road widening project, with officials aiming to finalize the work by Monday, September 16.
Durga Prasad Nepal, an engineer from the Roads Division Office in Hetauda and the project representative for Birgunj, stated that authorities are working to resolve a dispute regarding a Nepal Telecom building located near Maisthan. Officials expect to reach a resolution on the matter today, allowing the remaining construction tasks to conclude within the week.
Most structures situated within the designated road boundary have already been removed. Current efforts are focused on clearing remaining structures located behind Siddhartha Bank, the Pampam Building, and the Hanuman Temple. According to the project office, some property owners have assisted in the process by performing partial demolitions themselves, which has accelerated the removal of the final obstructions.
The expansion project, which began several months ago, involved the demolition of approximately 1,200 houses and the front sections of buildings located within 25 meters on either side of the main road.
