Chris Lynn, the Brisbane Heat legend and the Big Bash League’s all‑time leading run‑scorer, has completed a rehabilitation program after a one‑month ban for cocaine use. The 36‑year‑old was tested on July 18 during the T20 Blast Finals Day in England. The sample was sent to a laboratory in France, where it returned a cocaine‑positive result. Lynn was initially given a three‑month ban, but the ban was reduced to one month (July 31 – August 30) after he completed the required rehabilitation program. During the ban, Lynn played only one match in the Sri Lankan Premier League season. He later admitted that he had used cocaine a few hours after retiring hurt from a game for Northamptonshire, when he was struck in the foot by Duan Jansen. The low levels of the drug in his sample meant that he avoided further sanctions under World Anti‑Doping Regulations. Lynn has signed a contract with the Melbourne Renegades for the upcoming BBL season, after leaving the Adelaide Strikers. The ban is not expected to affect his participation with the Renegades, who will open their campaign with a match in India against the reigning champions Perth Scorchers on December 12.
