A 27-year-old resident of Bethel was violently robbed on Monday evening at Winchester Trace, Patience Hill. The incident occurred around 7:30 pm near the local playing field. The victim had arranged to meet an unknown man for a transaction when a second individual attacked him with a cutlass.
The assailants stole a Spanish link gold chain valued at $2,000 TTD, an iPhone 12 worth $3,000 TTD, and a wallet containing $1,500 USD. Both attackers fled the scene, heading east across the playing field. The victim is reportedly the son of a prominent businessman, adding a layer of concern to the incident.
In response, Senior Superintendent of Police Rohdill Kirk emphasized the importance of public safety and advised against carrying large sums of money. He suggested using cheques for transactions and conducting them in secure locations, such as police stations.
SSP Kirk also encouraged residents and business owners to review their security measures and remain vigilant. He stressed the importance of making oneself a ‘hard target’ to deter potential criminals.
The police continue to investigate the incident and urge the public to report any suspicious activities. SSP Kirk’s advice aims to prevent similar incidents and ensure community safety.
