Belize City Participates in Global Disaster Resilience Forum in South Korea

Belize City participated in the International Disaster Resilience Leaders Forum 2026, held in Incheon, Republic of Korea, on September 7 and 8.

A public post from Belize News Network reported the city’s participation in the event. The available post did not identify Belize’s representatives or announce any resulting agreements or policy changes.

The forum was organized by Incheon Metropolitan City, the Incheon Institute and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction’s regional office and training institute. It was supported by South Korea’s Ministry of the Interior and Safety and held in cooperation with the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat.

Under the theme “Translating Locally-led Resilience into Action in the Age of Complex Risk and Digital Transformation,” the forum examined how local authorities can put disaster-risk reduction plans into practice.

The official programme focused on subjects including emerging technology, risk-informed investment, recovery readiness, infrastructure resilience, cooperation between scientists and policymakers, and the exchange of practical knowledge among cities.

The event took place at Songdo Convensia in Incheon. Its wider purpose was to connect local leaders, government officials, specialists and international organizations working to reduce disaster and climate risks.

Belize City’s participation placed it within that international exchange of local experiences. However, the sources reviewed do not establish that Belize entered any new partnership or adopted a new disaster-management measure during the forum.
