The Bahamas has launched its first national certification program aimed at addressing the growing issue of electronic waste.
The initiative, introduced by the New Providence Ecology Park, recognizes companies that demonstrate leadership in sustainability and responsible waste management.
Organizations can earn certification based on their efforts in waste reduction, policy implementation, and environmental advocacy.
Cable Bahamas has already set a benchmark, becoming the first company to achieve the highest certification level after responsibly disposing of over 156,000 pounds of electronic waste.
Officials say the program will play a critical role in reducing landfill pressure and promoting environmental responsibility across the corporate sector.
