Back-to-Back Tropical Waves to Bring Unsettled Weather Across Trinidad and Tobago Through Saturday

Trinidad and Tobago is bracing for back-to-back tropical waves expected to keep conditions unsettled from tonight through Saturday afternoon.

Tropical Wave 28 is already affecting parts of eastern Tobago, with additional activity nearing the eastern coast of Trinidad. Overnight through mid-afternoon Friday, residents can expect variably cloudy skies with mainly light to moderate, isolated to widely scattered showers across various regions. Brief isolated thunderstorms are also possible in a few areas.

A second, more vigorous system—Tropical Wave 29—is set to arrive during the predawn hours of Saturday morning. This wave will bring variably cloudy skies with widely scattered to widespread showers of varying intensity, along with isolated to scattered thunderstorms as it traverses the region.

By Saturday early afternoon, conditions are forecast to gradually become mainly settled again. However, isolated overnight and early morning showers may persist into Sunday.

Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant, especially during periods of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. Residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas should take necessary precautions as these systems move through.
