সাঁথিয়ায় গৃহবধূকে হত্যার অভিযোগ, স্বামী গ্রেপ্তার

In the Charpara village of Dulauri Union, Satkhira, a 35‑year‑old housewife named Romena Khatoon was found dead on Monday night, around 10:30 p.m. The police have arrested her husband, Abdur Rahim, 45, who is believed to have killed her. Abdur Rahim, a resident of Charpara and son of the local mosque leader, had been living abroad for many years. He first went to Saudi Arabia, stayed there for six years, and is now based in Malaysia. He returned to Bangladesh on a two‑month vacation. According to local sources, the couple had a dispute over money that Romena had sent to her father’s house in Kashinathpur village of the same union. Rahim said that when Romena sent 13,000 taka to her father without informing him, a quarrel broke out. He claimed that he strangled her, saying he did not realize that the act would kill her. Romena Khatoon’s father, Morham Ali, stated that he received news of his daughter’s death on Monday and went to the village. He reported that while bathing his daughter, he noticed bruises and marks on her neck, which raised his suspicion. He called the police, who arrived at the scene and questioned Rahim. Rahim admitted to the killing. Ali expressed his grief and demanded justice, saying, “My daughter’s two sons are now left without a mother. I want the killer to be punished.” Police officer Anisur Rahman, acting officer of Satkhira Thana, confirmed the arrest. He said that after the initial investigation, Rahim was taken into custody. The body was recovered and transported to the morgue at Pubna Sadar Hospital for an autopsy. The case is now under investigation.
