Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku urged the country to achieve 100 % domestic production of animal vaccines at a meeting held on Thursday afternoon in the conference hall of the Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI). In his remarks, Tuku said that if all vaccines required for livestock can be manufactured locally, Bangladesh would reduce its dependence on imports and save foreign exchange. He called on scientists and researchers to strengthen the capacity of government institutions and to translate research findings into field practice. The meeting was organized by the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock and was announced in a press release issued by the ministry. BLRI Director‑General Dr. Shakila Faruk chaired the session.
