Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN) Calls for International Collaboration in Hydropower Development KATHMANDU, October 29 – The Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN) has formally invited the international community, specifically Canada, to invest in and provide technical collaboration for the development of reservoir-based hydropower projects in Nepal. Addressing the Canadian Dam Association’s Annual Conference and Trade Show, IPPAN President Mohan Kumar Dangi emphasized that Canada’s extensive experience in dam engineering, reservoir project management, hydropower technology, and the development of climate-resilient infrastructure would be highly beneficial for Nepal. He noted that there is significant potential for bilateral cooperation in constructing safe, sustainable, and climate-resilient hydropower projects. Dangi highlighted the Government of Nepal’s ambitious target to reach a total installed electricity capacity of 30,000 megawatts by 2035. He stated that achieving this goal would not only meet Nepal’s growing domestic energy demand but also create substantial opportunities for expanding electricity exports to neighboring countries.
