The Shura Council of Yemen issued a statement condemning an attack carried out by Saudi forces on the Al‑Hizam market in the Al‑Jouf province. According to the council, the strike, which occurred during the peak shopping season, killed 14 civilians and injured 16 others, including three women. The council described the attack as a “complete war crime” and a blatant violation of international law that protects civilians and civilian infrastructure. In the statement, the council accused Saudi Arabia and its allied militias of repeatedly targeting Yemeni airports, including the Aden airport, and converting them into military bases. It said such actions contravene international norms and have turned these sites into “battlefields.” The council also asserted that the Yemeni armed forces are focused on neutralizing Saudi forces and the weapons they bring into Yemen, rather than attacking civilian infrastructure in the occupied provinces. The council urged residents of the southern and eastern provinces—from Aden to Al‑Mahra—to protect their children and avoid being drawn into futile conflicts that serve only the interests of foreign adversaries. It praised the awareness of people in these regions and criticized the transformation of their areas into arenas for “settling scores” and advancing “American and Zionist agendas” at the expense of Yemeni lives. The statement highlighted that, after 12 years of Saudi aggression and blockade, Yemenis have become more conscious of the occupier’s objectives and ambitions. It claimed that Saudi forces have brought only killing, destruction, increased suffering, a lack of services, chaos, and rising prices, thereby worsening living conditions in the southern provinces.
