In Daulatpur, a sub‑district of Manikganj, authorities carried out a raid to stop illegal sand dredging. The operation, conducted on Wednesday afternoon in the Abudanga and Shyampar areas, was led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Probir Biswas. According to officials, the illegal activity involved the use of dredgers connected to five pipelines that had been installed for extracting sand. During the raid, the pipelines were disconnected to halt the operation. The inclement weather caused the raid to be temporarily suspended, and no fines were imposed at that time. Probir Biswas said that the authorities would resume the operation once the weather improves and that legal action would be taken against those involved in the illegal dredging.
