A cyberattack was carried out against the Italian Chamber of Deputies, targeting a number of email accounts, including that of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, according to the news agency ANSA. The attack, which lasted several days, compromised the email address Meloni used while she was a deputy, not the one she currently uses. The computer department of the lower house has taken control of the situation and is now working with the National Cybersecurity Agency to prevent further incidents, the news agency BTA reported. Meloni’s press office confirmed that the Prime Minister no longer uses the hacked email address. In recent weeks other Italian institutions have also been hit by similar hacking attempts.
