The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Information, participated in the 115th meeting of the Executive Council of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) held in Tunisia. The Omani delegation was led by Mohammed bin Said Al Balushi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information.
During the meeting, participants discussed various media-related topics, including radio and television programming, engineering, and new media initiatives. The agenda also covered the Arab Radio and Television Festival, scheduled to take place from September 20 to 24 under the theme “Pulse of the Image and Echo of the Future.” Additionally, the council addressed media support for the Palestinian cause, the expansion of program exchanges, and the union’s activities in the digital media sector.
The council reviewed a report from the Arab Center for Radio and Television Training in Damascus, which highlighted Oman’s contributions to hosting training courses in Muscat. The report also noted the participation of Omani media personnel in training programs conducted by the center and the ASBU Media Training Academy in Tunisia.
A significant portion of the discussions focused on the integration of artificial intelligence into media operations. The council emphasized the importance of keeping pace with technological advancements and proposed specialized training courses in artificial intelligence to enhance the skills and capabilities of media professionals.
Oman’s participation in the Executive Council meetings is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen Arab media cooperation, coordination, and the exchange of professional expertise across the industry.
