نعمة النوم

Dr. Abdullah Al-Mashoukhi recently recounted a personal experience regarding the nature of sleep following a long-distance drive. Al-Mashoukhi traveled approximately 1,650 kilometers by car from Amman to Dammam in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.

During the journey, Al-Mashoukhi reported experiencing significant fatigue and drowsiness, particularly as he approached the city of Al-Nairiyah. He attempted to combat the exhaustion by stopping periodically to wash his face and head with cold water. Despite these efforts, he described the persistent struggle to remain alert while driving through Al-Jubail and toward his final destination.

Upon arriving at his home in Dammam, Al-Mashoukhi noted that he was physically exhausted and eager to rest. However, once he prepared for sleep, he found himself unable to fall asleep for several hours. Reflecting on this experience, he observed that the ability to sleep is not entirely within human control, describing it as a physiological state that cannot be forced at will.

Al-Mashoukhi concluded his account by reflecting on the nature of sleep and wakefulness, characterizing them as essential blessings. He emphasized that while individuals may take practical steps to prepare for rest, the actual onset of sleep remains a matter beyond human command.
