Mustapha El Yahyaoui, an academic and researcher specializing in geopolitics, has analyzed the rising digital presence of Fouzi Lekjaa, noting a significant increase in his visibility on social media platforms since August. According to data cited by El Yahyaoui, Lekjaa’s digital footprint grew from approximately 7 percent on August 7 to nearly 40 percent.
El Yahyaoui stated that this surge in visibility has become an influential factor in the communication strategies of other political actors. He noted that by August 12, Lekjaa’s digital presence had surpassed that of the collective leadership of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), which had previously reached 72 percent.
The researcher attributed this shift to a gradual attraction of public opinion toward Lekjaa’s persona. He argued that political parties are now required to adapt to diverse communication rhythms, such as the consistent presence of Abdelilah Benkirane on YouTube and the “Masar Al-Injazat” (Path of Achievements) program adopted by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch.
El Yahyaoui observed that the Authenticity and Modernity Party has not sufficiently adopted the concept of a “permanent campaign”—defined as continuous political communication outside of election periods—unlike Akhannouch and Benkirane. He suggested this has weakened the party’s ability to compete with its rivals.
According to the researcher, Lekjaa’s rising profile is particularly notable among youth, who he claims have begun to mention his name spontaneously, despite Lekjaa not being officially presented as a political leader. El Yahyaoui described this as the formation of a distinct “niche” that contrasts with the political image represented by Akhannouch.
El Yahyaoui explained that this digital presence has been built around two key themes in public discourse: the nature of public services and the state’s relationship with the private sector, and concerns regarding transparency in agricultural support systems and potential conflicts of interest. He concluded that these issues have helped position Lekjaa as a political model distinct from Akhannouch, whom critics often associate with excessive liberalism and the weakening of public services.
