On Thursday, 17 September, members of the Anti-Gang Unit of the provincial judicial police in Al‑Ayoun arrested a 23‑year‑old man in the Al‑Wafaq district of the city.
The operation followed a covert surveillance of the suspect’s residence, during which authorities seized 45 small bottles, each holding 33 centiliters of the traditional alcoholic beverage known as “Al‑Mahya.” The bottles were reportedly prepared for distribution.
During the raid, police discovered a clandestine distillery on the premises, indicating that the suspect was involved in illicit alcohol production and marketing.
Al‑Ayoun police officials said the arrest was part of an ongoing campaign to curb illegal alcohol manufacturing and distribution in the region.
Details of the suspect’s identity and the full extent of the operation have not yet been released by the authorities.
