China has urged Iran to assist in stopping Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia after the Gulf state appealed for help.
Foreign reporters from agencies such as Agence France-Presse reported that three Iranian sources were aware of the diplomatic exchange.
The appeal came after Saudi Arabia reported a series of attacks by the Houthi movement, which is based in Yemen and backed by Iran.
China’s statement was made in response to Saudi Arabia’s request for assistance in preventing further attacks.
Details of the specific measures China is proposing to Iran have not been disclosed.
Saudi Arabia has repeatedly called on international partners to curb Houthi aggression.
