Speaker of the House of Representatives Dol Prasad Aryal stated that Nepal is facing severe consequences from climate change despite the country’s negligible contribution to global carbon emissions. He emphasized that the nation cannot continue to bear this disproportionate burden.
Addressing the first General Assembly of the South Asia Wildlife Enforcement Network in Lalitpur, Speaker Aryal highlighted the recent disaster in Rasuwagadhi, which occurred on August 26. He reported that the flooding resulted in significant loss of life, with thousands of people missing and thousands more left homeless. He further noted that the disaster caused billions of rupees in damages.
