শ্রীলঙ্কাকে হারিয়ে সেমিফাইনালের লড়াইয়ে বাংলাদেশ

Bangladesh Under‑19s secured a 45‑run victory over Sri Lanka Under‑19s in the semi‑final qualifier of the U19 Asia Cup, keeping their semi‑final hopes alive. The match was played at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman, where Bangladesh posted 245 runs. Sri Lanka were all out for 200 in 46.1 overs. Bangladeshi batters were led by Ahshan Al Momin, who scored 82 off 98 balls, including two fours and four sixes. SK Jareef Syam contributed 59 runs from 83 balls, while Abdullah Al Mahi added 30 runs from 25 balls. In Sri Lanka’s innings, Senjura Wickramage was the top scorer, making 85 off 94 balls with ten fours and two sixes. Bangladesh’s bowlers were effective, with Tafur Alom Tamim, Sheikh Atikur Rahman, Rubai Islam and Rubiul Hasan Anik each taking two wickets. Jareef Syam claimed one wicket. The win is particularly significant after Bangladesh’s opening loss to Afghanistan, which had put the team under pressure. The victory over Sri Lanka keeps Bangladesh in contention for a semi‑final spot, but they still need a win against Malaysia on 9 November to secure qualification. In Group B, Afghanistan currently leads with 4 points and a net run rate of +3.645. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh each have 2 points; Sri Lanka’s net run rate is +1.229, while Bangladesh’s is –0.680. If Bangladesh defeats Malaysia and Sri Lanka loses to Afghanistan, Bangladesh will finish second with 4 points. If all three teams win their remaining matches, the teams will be level on points and the net run rate will determine the semi‑finalists. Consequently, Bangladesh must aim for a decisive win against Malaysia to improve its net run rate.
