On Saturday morning, the Rezecne weather station recorded the first snowflakes of the season, according to data released by the Latvian Center for Environment, Geology and Meteorology. The snowfall was light and did not produce a snow cover. Additional observations from the Latvian State Roads agency (“Latvijas Valsts ceļi”) confirm that early on November 7, precipitation fell around Rezecne at an air temperature of +1 °C. Historical comparisons show that last year the first snow fell on October 12 in the Balvci region, with the first snow cover forming on November 14–15. In 2024, the first snow fell on the evenings of November 1 and 2, while in 2023 it fell on October 8. Meteorologists predict a cooling trend for the coming week, with temperatures expected to drop below freezing at times.
