On the first day of Yampanchak, which fell on 21 Kattik in Dhankuta, residents celebrated the festival of Kaga Tihar by worshipping crows and offering them sweets. According to local tradition, crows are regarded as messengers of Yamaraj, the god of death, and the act of feeding them is believed to invite good news. Food was distributed to crows at several locations throughout the town. Photographs of the ceremony were taken by Santosh Suvedi.
