The “Nenrin Pick Saionokuni Saitama 2026” national health and welfare festival opened on Sunday morning at the Kumagaya Sports and Culture Park Athletics Stadium in Kumagaya City, Saitama Prefecture. The event, the 38th edition of the nationwide festival, will run from November 7 to 10 and feature 30 sports and cultural activities across 24 municipalities in the prefecture. The festival is aimed primarily at residents aged 60 and older, who will compete in a variety of sports and cultural exchanges. Organizers expect a total attendance of about 600,000 people, including spectators, over the four‑day period. The opening ceremony marked the start of the event, which will provide opportunities for older adults to engage in physical activity and community interaction.
