Bangladesh secured a 1‑0 victory over Bhutan in the opening match of the Saf Championship, with forward Mohammad Ibrahim scoring the decisive goal. The goal came in the 65th minute, just four minutes after Ibrahim entered the game as a substitute. It was a powerful volley that proved to be the match‑winner and the first international goal for Ibrahim in four years. Ibrahim, who has struggled with limited playing time and criticism in recent seasons, said the goal was “very special” after a long period of being left out of the national squad. “I scored my last goal for the national team four years ago, and after that I didn’t get many opportunities,” he told the newspaper’s reporter Anwar Sohag. “This goal and the win mean a lot to me.” The forward explained that the mental toll of being repeatedly dropped from the squad was significant. “I had to change clubs several times and keep trying to play well for the national team, but I was still left out of the squad for the San Marino tour and the Asian Cup,” he said. “People would say my career was over.
