President Donald Trump said that a settlement of the war in Ukraine is close and that a broader agreement could extend to all of Europe. The remarks were made after a Thursday meeting at the White House with Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian president’s envoy. “This will be a big agreement and it will include more than Ukraine. I could even say it could cover all of Europe. It will be a big, beautiful agreement and everyone will be excited,” Trump told reporters. Trump did not disclose details of his conversation with Dmitriev and confirmed that he did not meet with Ukrainian officials who were also in the White House that day. The Ukrainian delegation and the Russian envoy were present at an event organized by First Lady Melania Trump. The event commemorated a multi‑day ceasefire in the occupied Ukrainian city of Oleksievo, brokered by Melania Trump to allow delivery of humanitarian aid and evacuation of civilians. The Washington meeting comes ahead of a new round of talks between U.S., Ukrainian and Russian representatives scheduled for November 10‑11 in Abu Dhabi.
