Attorney Thanks Police for Timely Highway Assistance After 999 Call Amidst Personal Challenges

A woman who found herself stranded on a Trinidad highway is expressing gratitude towards the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service after a 999 call resulted in officers promptly coming to her aid. Attorney Sai Loutoo shared her experience on social media, describing it as a refreshing example of police professionalism and compassion.

Loutoo explained that she was already having a tough week following the loss of her pet when her vehicle suffered a flat tyre shortly after passing the Munroe Road Flyover. As she attempted to reach roadside assistance, her phone displayed ‘Emergency Calls Only,’ leaving her unable to make regular calls. Feeling stranded and unsure, she decided to contact 999 Rapid Response.

The Command Centre quickly coordinated with the Freeport Highway Patrol, and officers arrived in under 20 minutes. Constable Charles, who contacted Loutoo beforehand, helped to ease her anxiety and gathered necessary details to ensure the officers could locate her safely. Upon arrival, the officers efficiently changed the tyre while keeping Loutoo and her vehicle safe. Additional officers also joined to assist.

Loutoo expressed her heartfelt thanks to Constable Charles, Constable Mahabir, and Corporal Mohamed for their support. She noted that their assistance was especially meaningful given her emotional state and the fear of being stranded without normal phone service.

Highlighting the importance of recognizing positive police interactions, Loutoo stated that while criticism is common, there are officers who quietly go above and beyond to help those in vulnerable situations. She praised the TTPS Command Centre and 999 Rapid Response for their exemplary professionalism, patience, and compassion during her stressful ordeal.
