This report covers attorney arrested chaguanas firearm with key details and context.
An attorney was taken into custody in the early hours of Saturday, October 4, 2025, following a police operation in Chaguanas, where a firearm and several rounds of ammunition were allegedly discovered at his residence and law office. The operation, which was part of a broader anti-crime initiative in the Chaguanas Policing District, was conducted between 4:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. under the TTPS Strategic Plan. The exercise was overseen by Supt. Glodon, coordinated by ASP Hernandez, and directly supervised by Insp. Joseph and Sgt. Ramsumair.
At approximately 4:30 a.m., officers from the Chaguanas Crime Patrol and CDTF Area North, acting on intelligence and under the authority of Section 12 of the Emergency Power Regulations 2025, proceeded to the home of 31-year-old attorney-at-law Anton Grantum on Julie Mango Drive, Woodford Gardens. The officers, equipped with body cameras, conducted a search of the premises in Grantum’s presence. During the search, a black plastic bag containing a transparent bag with eleven cylindrical brass objects resembling 9mm ammunition was reportedly found.
Gratum was unable to produce any valid firearm user’s license, permit, or exemption when questioned. He was informed of the offence under Chapter 16:01 of the Firearms Act, cautioned, and arrested, according to the police. Following up on intelligence, the police also searched Grantum’s law office on Ramsarran Street, Chaguanas, where they discovered a black Sig Sauer P290 pistol fitted with a magazine and 13 rounds of 9mm ammunition hidden in a desk compartment, which Grantum opened at the officers’ request.
The firearm was made safe and processed at the scene by Crime Scene Investigators (CSI). Grantum was again unable to provide documentation for the weapon and ammunition and was formally arrested for breaches under the Firearms Act. The operation concluded without incident. PC Hosein of the Chaguanas Police is continuing investigations.
