Indian teqball player Quimcy Dsouza finished without a medal in the women’s singles event at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, after a defeat on September 20. Dsouza lost the bronze medal match to Japan’s Yuina Sakamoto in two sets, both ending with a score of 12-11.
The match remained competitive throughout, with Dsouza holding a set point in the opening game and establishing a lead in the second. Despite saving a match point with a winning serve, Dsouza was unable to overcome Sakamoto, who capitalized on late-game errors to secure the victory.
Dsouza had reached the bronze medal match after topping Group A with victories over opponents from Japan and Cambodia. She was subsequently defeated in the semifinals by Indonesia’s Sumaya, losing 1-2 after winning the first set 12-7.
Despite the loss in the singles category, Dsouza remains in contention for a medal at the games. She is scheduled to compete in the mixed doubles bronze medal match alongside partner Mohamed Anas Beg.
