As President Barrow Celebrates Successful Delivery… Pavi Fort Raises Sierra Leone’s Flag Through 50km Urban Roads Excellence in The Gambia

Pavi Fort‑Al Associates (SL) Limited, a Sierra Leonean road construction firm, completed a major urban road project in The Gambia and received praise from the country’s president.

The company, operating through its Gambian subsidiary Pavi Fort The Gambia, was awarded Lot 2 of the 50‑kilometre urban roads initiative in 2022. The contract covers 27.8 kilometres of roads in Brufut, a suburb of Serrekunda, and is financed by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

President Adama Barrow formally inaugurated the road network on Saturday, 5 September 2026, in Brufut. The ceremony was attended by government officials, community leaders, residents and representatives from Sierra Leone.

During the event, President Barrow praised the quality of the work and the professionalism of Pavi Fort. He expressed confidence that the company could undertake additional infrastructure projects in the country.

Project Director Ing. Joseph Raymond Sandy reported that approximately 97.5 percent of the contracted work had been completed. The remaining tasks include installing streetlights, completing road signs and other finishing works. Sandy noted that the new roads, drainage facilities and lighting infrastructure had significantly improved conditions in Brufut.

Alimu Barrie, chairman and chief executive officer of Pavi Fort, thanked President Barrow, the Gambian government, the people of The Gambia and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation for entrusting the company with the project. He also commended the workers and technical team for their professionalism, discipline and commitment.

The head of The Gambia’s National Roads Authority also praised Pavi Fort for its performance and the quality of the infrastructure delivered in Brufut. Community leaders and residents said the project had transformed their surroundings by providing an improved road network, functioning drainage systems and streetlights, thereby enhancing mobility, safety and economic activity.

Following the Brufut project, Pavi Fort The Gambia has reportedly been awarded a contract to construct 100 kilometres of roads in rural areas of the country. The company is also expected to sign another major infrastructure contract in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, further extending its operations across West Africa.

Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to The Gambia, Martha Kanagbo, and Director General of the Sierra Leone Roads Authority, Ing. Alfred Jalil Momodu, were among the dignitaries who witnessed the inauguration.

Pavi Fort‑Al Associates has expanded beyond Sierra Leone, undertaking road and infrastructure projects in Guinea, Liberia and The Gambia. The wholly African‑owned company, headquartered in Sierra Leone, provides services covering highways, bridges, airports, real estate development, quarry operations, equipment rental and large‑scale construction logistics.

In Liberia, the company received a concession agreement on 4 December 2025 to construct and maintain approximately 255 kilometres of strategic highways under a US$364 million public‑private partnership. The project covers the St. Paul Bridge–Clay, Madina–Robertsport and Clay–Tubmanburg corridors, including a four‑lane expansion between St. Paul Bridge and Bowaterside
