Federal authorities are seeking an arrest warrant for Yaira Cotto Flores, a former teacher convicted of having sexual relations with a 14-year-old student. The federal probations office has asked the Department of Justice to act after Cotto Flores failed to turn herself in to begin her 10-year prison sentence. She was supposed to report to a federal facility in Alabama but missed multiple deadlines. Her husband claims she is receiving mental health treatment. Cotto Flores was found guilty earlier this year for a 2016 incident where she took the student to a motel. She also faces 8 years of supervised release after her prison term.
