Delvinson de la Cruz Sosa, 29, has been detained on suspicion of threatening President Luis Abinader and for alleged terrorist-related activities. The request for a coercive measure against the suspect was postponed until next Tuesday, with the hearing originally scheduled for Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at the Office of Permanent Judicial Services in the Duarte judicial district. Prosecutors asked that preventive detention be imposed. De la Cruz Sosa was arrested on Tuesday following a court order. The arrest was carried out during a raid on an apartment in Vista del Valle, San Francisco de Macorís, Duarte province. Authorities also searched Ferretería Molina on Avenida Profesor Juan Bosch, where the suspect is employed. The National Intelligence Directorate’s Cybercrime Investigation Division assisted the investigation after intelligence agencies reported alleged threats against the president. During the raids, electronic equipment and chemical substances were seized and are pending evaluation as evidence. The court order also authorized searches for cell phones, tablets, computers, firearms, military equipment, explosive devices, and other items that might be related to the alleged plot. Judicial documents indicate that prosecutors are investigating whether a planned attack on President Abinader was intended for November 6, 2026, the Constitution Day celebration at the National Congress. The arrest warrant was requested by prosecutors Benedicto Arquímedes Reynoso Sánchez, Pedro Williams Concepción and Elington Santiago Villar, and approved by Judge Josefina Noemí Díaz Marte.
