A tornado struck Kepez, a district of Antalya, at approximately 23:00 on Tuesday, killing four workers. The storm caused widespread damage in Fevzi Çakmak Neighborhood, prompting an immediate response from Kepez Municipality. Mayor Mesut Kocagöz arrived at the site with a delegation that included the district governor, Suat Dervişoğlu, and inspected the damage. He directed municipal crews to begin repair and cleanup operations immediately. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of four of our workers. May God grant them mercy and give their families and colleagues strength,” Kocagöz said. “We wish a swift recovery for the injured.” The municipality’s Disaster Management and Risk Management Directorate coordinated the effort. Teams from the Search and Rescue Unit (KEPAT), Fire and Rescue, Parks and Gardens, Cleaning Services, and the Police Department worked through the night and into the morning. Tasks included pruning broken tree branches that posed safety hazards, removing fallen branches, leaves, and other debris from streets, repositioning displaced trash containers, and clearing clogged storm drains. The cleanup also involved replacing damaged containers and ensuring that drainage systems were free of obstructions to prevent flooding. The work is ongoing as the municipality seeks to restore the area to a safe and orderly condition.
