Trinidad and Tobago’s ANSA McAL, one of the largest private-sector conglomerates, has accused the State-owned National Gas Company (NGC) of imposing a 77% increase in the price of natural gas supplied to its subsidiary, Carib Glass. ANSA McAL was forced to sign a revised gas sales contract to prevent damage to its manufacturing operations. The company warned that the decision threatens local production, employment stability, and the affordability of goods. Furthermore, the group expressed concerns over reportedly granted concessions to other market participants. ANSA McAL stressed that while energy pricing policies must evolve, it should not come at the expense of viable local industry.
