Angola’s Inflation Drops to 10.11% in June, Extending 23-Month Deceleration Streak

Angola’s inflation rate continued its downward trend in June, reaching 10.11% — a significant decrease from 19.73% in the same month last year. This marks the 23rd consecutive month of deceleration, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

The Consumer Price Index showed a slowdown of 0.76 percentage points from May and 9.62 percentage points year-on-year. The ‘Transport’ category recorded the highest annual price increase at 15.40%, followed by ‘Education’ at 13.40%.

The sustained decline in inflation comes as Angola approaches the 2026 elections, offering a positive economic signal for households and policymakers alike. Analysts attribute the trend to monetary tightening and improved foreign exchange stability.
