Anggota Komisi VI DPR Gus Rivqy Soroti Aturan Baru Bagasi Garuda, Minta Segera Ditinjau Ulang

Jakarta, 10 September 2026 – Member of the DPR Commission VI from the National Awakening Party (PKB), Gus Rivqy Abdul Halim, has urged PT Garuda Indonesia to review its new baggage policy.

The airline’s updated free baggage system, which began on 1 September 2026, shifts from a weight‑based calculation to a piece‑based approach. Under the new rule, passengers’ free baggage allowance is determined by the number of suitcases they carry, each subject to a maximum weight limit, rather than the total weight of all luggage.

Gus Rivqy said the change has caused confusion and complaints among travelers. “Many people feel disadvantaged by the new rule,” he said in Jakarta. “I recommend that Garuda reconsider this policy.”

He cited the Ministry of Transportation Regulation No. PM 30 of 2021, which governs passenger baggage and still uses a weight‑based method, as a reference point for evaluating the airline’s new approach.

Gus Rivqy’s remarks come as the airline’s policy has been in effect for only a few weeks, and the public’s reaction has prompted calls for a reassessment of the rule’s alignment with existing regulations.
