San Jose Jeweler, 88, Suffers Stroke After Violent Smash-and-Grab

An 88-year-old jeweler is recovering after suffering a stroke during a brazen smash-and-grab robbery at his store in San Jose on Saturday afternoon.

Police say the incident happened just before 2:10 p.m. at Kim Hung Jewelry, located in the 1900 block of Aborn Road. According to investigators, suspects backed an SUV through the front entrance of the business before “multiple suspects,” at least one armed with a gun, rushed inside.

The suspects smashed display cases, grabbed large amounts of jewelry, and fled the scene in several waiting vehicles. During the chaos, one of the assailants knocked down the elderly store owner, who later suffered a stroke. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where his condition remains unknown.

Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses in hopes of identifying the suspects. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward, stressing that crimes like this pose grave dangers not only to victims but to the surrounding community.
